Lipodissolve has been in use for many years in the United Kingdom, France, and other countries. It is gaining popularity in this country as an alternative to liposuction. It is not a substitute for healthy eating or to decrease your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. Many people should consider dieting before they consider mesotherapy. It is intended for those areas of your body that need spot reduction. This can include the buttocks, saddlebags, under arms, back or bra fat, under eyelids, under the chin, thighs, knees, and calves. Mesotherapy is also effective in the abdomen and breast tissue in men.
The main drug in the 'cocktail' is phosphatidylcholine; it was formerly used in the 1950s to lower cholesterol in the bloodstream before we had the great drugs we have today that help us keep from forming the cholesterol. Phosphatidylcholine is a liquid form of lecithin, which occurs naturally in our body. It is truly lipolytic, or 'fat dissolving'.
The primary side effects of the injections are pain from the needle sticks, itching, redness, and/or bruising at the sites of treatment. Treatments can be as little as 1-2 under the eyes, or as many as 8-12 on the abdomen, saddlebags, or larger areas. Treatments are done anywhere from 1-2 weeks apart for larger areas to as long as a month apart when treating the eyes. Most of the time only two areas are treated in any one setting because of the concentrations of the medicines being used.
Treatments are $600 for the chin, $600 under the eyes, and $1,200 for packages of six treatments to other parts of the body. Consultations are $100 but will go towards any treatment package if booked. Please talk to us about this exciting new addition to our Laser and Cosmetic Services.
