TREATMENTS FOR INFERTILITY
Infertility problems in women can be brought on by a range of issues, such as PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), uterine fibroids or polyps, hormone imbalances, aging, menopause, endometriosis, and more. Based on the cause of your infertility, our team at Lawrence Family Practice Center offers a range of options to help you start your family. Some of these techniques include:
- Intrauterine insemination (IUI): IUI is an in-office treatment that only takes a handful of minutes to do. Before your procedure, sperm will be collected and is washed to remove seminal fluid and concentrate the sperm. The gathered sperm is then placed inside of the uterus via a tiny catheter that is attached to a syringe, bypassing the cervix to place the sperm closer to the fallopian tubes. This raises the chances that the sperm will come in contact with the egg.
- Sperm washing: Sperm washing is a technique that is used for IUI and IVF (in vitro fertilization) to remove certain chemicals from the sperm and increase the chances of fertilization.

Who Is A Good Candidate for Infertility Treatment?
Women under 35 who have been continuously trying to conceive for a year or longer or who are over 35 but have not had success conceiving for six months are likely the best candidates for infertility treatment at Lawrence Family Practice Center. Additionally, women with conditions like PCOS, uterine fibroids or polyps, endometriosis, hormone imbalances, blocked fallopian tubes, and irregular ovulation may be candidates, as these issues make conception more difficult. Women whose male partners have been diagnosed with male factor infertility may also be good candidates. If you have any questions about your eligibility for infertility treatment at our Lawrence, KS facility, feel free to contact us to set up an initial consultation.
Infertility management FAQs
What are uterine fibroids or polyps?
Fibroids and polyps are growths that commonly occur in the uterus. They may cause different symptoms based on their size and location. Most growths are benign and do not require treatment, but some may lead to issues like pain or infertility. Call Lawrence Family Practice Center if you think you may have uterine fibroids or polyps.
When should you see an infertility specialist?
If you have been trying to conceive for a period of 12 consecutive months with no success, you may want to consult with an infertility specialist in Lawrence. There are many factors that contribute to infertility, and an experienced professional can determine what may be causing difficulties. Our goal is to help you have a healthy pregnancy as soon as possible.
Does intrauterine insemination work?
Intrauterine insemination is a fertility treatment that involves placing sperm directly into the uterus. This increases the chances of fertilization and can be effective for couples struggling to conceive. IUI is often used in combination with other fertility treatments but may be successful on its own in some cases. A consultation can help determine if IUI is right for you.
