TREATMENTS FOR INFERTILITY
Infertility problems in women can be brought on by a range of issues, such as PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), uterine fibroids or polyps, hormone imbalances, aging, menopause, endometriosis, and more. Based on the cause of your infertility, our team at Lawrence Family Practice Center offers a range of options to help you start your family. Some of these techniques include:
- Intrauterine insemination (IUI): IUI is an in-office treatment that only takes a handful of minutes to do. Before your procedure, sperm will be collected and is washed to remove seminal fluid and concentrate the sperm. The gathered sperm is then placed inside of the uterus via a tiny catheter that is attached to a syringe, bypassing the cervix to place the sperm closer to the fallopian tubes. This raises the chances that the sperm will come in contact with the egg.
- Sperm washing: Sperm washing is a technique that is used for IUI and IVF (in vitro fertilization) to remove certain chemicals from the sperm and increase the chances of fertilization.
"I have had a great experience with Dr. Alana Ryan and her nurse. Dr. Ryan has actually listened to my concerns and I can tell that she truly cares about my entire well-being."- S.L. / Google / Jul 12, 2022
"All I can say is, if you are looking for a doctor that takes your concerns seriously, treats you with the highest level of kindness, who is adaptive and thorough, go see Dr. Blake Phipps and his nurse Tina. I have never before in my life experienced the high level of care that I have received from them. Not only was I taken seriously, my concerns were addressed right away, I was seen immediately, and I felt comfortable being treated. I cannot begin to express my gratitude to Dr. Phipps and his team."- J.“. / Google / Apr 15, 2022
"My experience today my experience with the nurse practitioner that I saw was wonderful"- B.H. / Google / Mar 13, 2022
"They have a wonderful staff. And they listen to their patients questions and they answer their questions. And they are prompt when it comes to scheduling for appointments either there or to specialists for tests or labs."- G.F. / Google / Feb 26, 2022
"I've always had wonderful experiences with the nurses and providers, they always make me feel safe and welcome. The front desk staff has been dismissive, and has forced some fairly embarrassing interactions - like having me state my health concerns in front of other patients, being unwilling to work with me to explain payment information when I was contacting my insurance, etc. I was late once, and instead of telling me yes or no as to whether the provider would still see me they made it seem like it was a huge deal and seemed very exasperated and borderline rude. I'd rather get a no than be treated like that to be honest. I get that COVID is hard and everyone is stressed but I shouldn't be leaving the front desk getting choked up from stress and embarrassment in most of my visits. I guess I didn't really think it was a big deal and sort of a universal experience until I started working at a hospital and have seen very positive and nonjudgemental interactions between patients and staff there, even when the news wasn't great. The good news is that you can do most of your check-in virtually. Again, the providers have been nothing but kind so it's not enough to make me look for healthcare elsewhere, but I am disappointed."- J.M. / Google / Feb 19, 2022
Infertility management FAQs
What are uterine fibroids or polyps?
Fibroids and polyps are growths that commonly occur in the uterus. They may cause different symptoms based on their size and location. Most growths are benign and do not require treatment, but some may lead to issues like pain or infertility. Call Lawrence Family Practice Center if you think you may have uterine fibroids or polyps.
When should you see an infertility specialist?
If you have been trying to conceive for a period of 12 consecutive months with no success, you may want to consult with an infertility specialist in Lawrence. There are many factors that contribute to infertility, and an experienced professional can determine what may be causing difficulties. Our goal is to help you have a healthy pregnancy as soon as possible.
Does intrauterine insemination work?
Intrauterine insemination is a fertility treatment that involves placing sperm directly into the uterus. This increases the chances of fertilization and can be effective for couples struggling to conceive. IUI is often used in combination with other fertility treatments but may be successful on its own in some cases. A consultation can help determine if IUI is right for you.
