In-house ultrasounds FAQs
When do you begin ultrasounds for a pregnancy?
Many practitioners perform the first ultrasound exam at about 6 – 8 weeks of pregnancy. This ultrasound will help determine how far along the pregnancy is and provide important information about the baby’s development. However, this timeline may change based on each individual pregnancy. Our team can provide more information during an appointment.
Is an ultrasound invasive?
No, ultrasounds are not considered invasive. The ultrasound wand is placed on the abdomen and sends out waves that create a complete image of the fetus. Lawrence Family Practice Center works hard to make sure our patients are as comfortable as possible during their ultrasound and every other visit moving forward.
What if there is a problem with the ultrasound?
If there is a problem with your ultrasound, our staff will work with you to determine the next steps. These may include additional testing or referrals to specialist centers. We understand that this can be a difficult and scary time, but our team is here to support you at every step. Call us in Lawrence, KS, to learn more about our processes and how we can help you.
